First time, 45 Indian central universities are taking admissions for undergraduate programmes through a common test CUET (Common University Entrance Test) for academic year 2022-23. The Common University Entrance Test is a computerised exam, which will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).

Highlights of Common University Entrance Test (CUET):

  1. This is the mandatory test for undergraduate courses in all the UGC-funded central universities from the year 2022-23.
  2. Class 12 marks has no relevance to take the test. Means all 12-passed students can apply for the CUET test.
  3. The reservation policies and quotas like for minorities, of the universities will remain unchanged.
  4. Students may apply to more than one Central Universities in a single application form.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) application window will open in the 1st week of April 2022.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) Exam shifts:

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) exams will be covered in 2 shifts. The total duration of exam will be about 3.5 hours.

Shift 1:

  1. Section I (languages),
  2. 2 chosen domain subjects
  3. General test

Shift 2:

  1. 4 other domain subjects
  2. An additional language test (Optional)

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) questions will be mutiple choice questions (MCQ) based on the NCERT text books.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) Marking patterns:

There will be negative marking for wrong answers in Common University Entrance Test (CUET).

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in how many languages?:

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will be offered in 13 languages at present –

English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi and Odia.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for foreign or international students:

For foreign or international students, they don’t need to take Common University Entrance Test (CUET). They will continue based on present supernumerary basis in the universities.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) participating Universities:

Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University are among the 45 universities.
