AICPIN of January 2026 for DA, DR of employees and Pensioners

The AICPIN for January 2026 have been released on 27th February’26. It will decide the quantum of dearness allowance and dearness relief of central govt. employees and pensioners, bank employees and pensioners, PSU employees and pensioners among others.

The AICPIN-IW stands for All-India Consumer Price Index Number – Industrial Workers, and it is very important index for DA, DR increment of Central Govt. employees, bank employees, PSU employees, Bank Pensioners, Govt. Pensioners and family pensioners.

The AICPIN – IW (All-India Consumer Price Index Number – Industrial Workers) for January 2026 has been released by Labour Bureau, under Ministry of Labour and Employment. Minister of State (I/C) for Labour & Employment. Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar had launched new series on 22.10.2020 and changed the base year from CPI (IW) Base 2001 = 100 to CPI (IW) Base 2016 = 100.

The AICPIN is very very important for employees working in central government, state government, CPSE, PSU, Banks, defence forces Army, Navy, IAF, others etc, as the rate of dearness allowances are decided by it.

For CPSE, PSU employees, Central or State, based on the consecutive 3 months of AICPIN – IW (All-India Consumer Price Index Number – Industrial Workers), means 1 quarter, calculation of average is done to finalize the IDA rate, which may be more or less than the previous quarter’s IDA rate. CPSE or many PSU employees get dearness allowance based on this rate.

For Bank employees, based on the consecutive 3 months of AICPIN – IW (All-India Consumer Price Index Number – Industrial Workers), means 1 quarter, DA slab is calculated and DA rate order is issued by IBA (Indian Banks Association), which may be more or less than the previous quarter’s DA rate. Bank employees get dearness allowance based on this rate.

For Central Government employees, based on the consecutive 12 months of AICPIN – IW (All-India Consumer Price Index Number – Industrial Workers), means 1 year, calculation of average is done to finalize the DA rate, which may be more or less than the previous quarter’s DA rate. Central Government employees get dearness allowance based on this rate.

AICPIN – IW for January 2026 = 148.6 (Base 2016=100):

January 2026 AICPIN – IW = 148.6, as per CPI(IW) Base 2016=100 Monthly Index Letter.

AICPIN – IW for January 2026 = 428 (Base 2001=100)

January 2026 AICPIN – IW = 428, as per old CPI (IW) Base 2001=100 Monthly Index Letter. AICPIN – IW on old base 2001=100 (General Index) can be obtained by multiplying the index number on new base 2016=100 by the linking factor 2.88 and rounding off the result to the nearest whole number.
